Wheat Week Activities

During this weeklong series of presentations, the students were able to make a watershed model, plant wheat seeds, make a model of a dam, dissect a head of wheat and eat some snacks made from wheat. It was a valuable addition to our study of Washington state.

Great Horned Owl

This owl was seen one block east of the school.

Heart-o-Gram sales netted the 4th grade over $400!!

Here you see students preparing the Heart-o-Grams by gluing on candy. When they were dry, they were sorted by class and delivered to each classroom before the end of the school day.

Catapult Contest

One of the activities the elementary students enjoyed when the Goal Banners were full was a Catapult Contest. Here Drew and Haylee squared get ready to launch a marshmallow.

Maps

We have used maps in several ways. We learned how to find Township, Range and section on maps of Douglas County. We also colored and did activities with maps of the world, the US and Washington state.

Shocker Pride day

All the kids in the school brought white t-shirts and decorated them for Shocker Pride day.

President Obama Inauguration

We watched the inauguration of our first African American president on the internet and on the TV when the internet got overloaded. We made a poster showing pictures of all the US presidents.

There are three things I think you should know about me.

First I would like you to know that when I was little my uncle did origami and tried to teach me.
My uncle Chris and I would sit down at the table and he would teach me how to do origami but I just couldn't get it right but Chris made a bird out of a one dollar bill. He can also make an elephant out of a peace of gray paper. I can almost make a cheetah with cheetah print paper. Doing origami is so relaxing if you know how to do it. (‘Because you might get a little bit frustrated)

Also I wont you to know that I love getting shells from the ocean and Lake Chelan.

‘Last month me and my family went to Lake Chelan at Wapato point and rented a condo. On the second day at the lake we went to the beach and saw something shiny in the water so I into the lake (burr) and picked it up. I looked at it for a long time. After a while I finally figured it out. First I thought it was a rock but then I found out that it was half a shell. The shell glowed as the sun hit the beautiful pattern on the shell. A couple minutes later I
found another one that looked the same so I put them together and they made one whole shell. I found three more and they were the same shape but different colors. My sisters found a sand dollar but when she was coming out of the water she tripped and accidentally broke the shell so we couldn’t show our mom. (She did not get hurt thankfully)

Finally I wont you to know that I love spending time with my grandpa.

My grandpa and I like to smash pennies on the train track by his work. Every week he will pick up the smashed pennies and then put some more non smashed pennies back on the track. One time my grandpa put a nickel on the track and when the train came and left my grandpa picked it up, took it home and showed me. The nickel looked so funny. My grandpa said it was special so I don’t have it at home; He kept it with him and put it with the others. When we put the penny on the track we set them on the thick side of the track. We have to be very careful so it doesn’t take us forever to place the penny.

When the train comes and runs them over they don’t usually fly out, they fall into the middle of the track. Smashing pennies is so much fun especially if the penny doesn’t get smashed all the way. The penny feels like a smooth surface and no bumps at all. Sometimes smashing pennies is not so much fun because it can get very chilly. One time I forgot to bring an extra coat so I got very cold. When the penny gets run over and it falls into the middle of the track and are always buried in the dirt. When they get covered in dirt my grandpa goes home and cleans the pennys.

As you can see I love learning with my family and just having fun with my family.

There are three things I think you should know about me. First you should know that I like to go to musical events.
I like to go to musical events because I always get a souvenir. The last couple of times they have been really exciting. I went to a concert Yakima WA. The concert was a Bowling for soup concert. One of the base guitar players named Eric chucked a guitar pick at my mom’s eye. But she is O.K. I also got to go to a country concert at the Waterville fair. I got to watch it with my two friends Ella and Lidia there rabbits Clara, Henry, and Alice. I got a little pink dolphin stuffed animal. When I went home I found that my dog found my toy and took it to his favorite place (underneath the tent trailer right under the queen bed) then he started to chew on it. My dog Maxwell chewed on it in till it was only stuffing; he just wanted to see if it had a squeaker in side of it.
Second I would like to know that I am a junior in girl scouts. Being a junior girl scout is a very big responsibility. You need to bring 50 cent dues to every meeting. If you were in girl scouts you would have a group of girls called a troop. When you are in a troop you will have a troop number for example my troop number is 1326. There are two different peaces of clothing that you need to wear to prove that you are in girl scouts. A vest is one of the options a sash is another option. This year I have a sash. My troop and I got to go to a bridging ceremony on Saturday September 13th 2008. I got to read an old, old, old girl scout poem that was made by the founder, Juliet Gordon Low. There are seven levels of girl scouts the first level is called daises, the second level is called brownies, the third level is called juniors, the forth level is called cadets, the fifth level is called seniors, the sixth level is called co-leaders, and the last level is called leaders. Cisily was our troop’s old leader before Kyra’s mom took over, Shalene. My mom was going to be the leader but she didn’t turn in the paper work because Shalene all ready was in and amber was all ready (before Shalene became leader) there and helping with all the meetings.

There are three thinks I think you should know about me. First I will tell you about my great grammas cats Blacky and Missy. Blacky is black and Missy is brown, white and gray. Missy sometimes sleeps in the sink. I love Blacky will tell you that I was in the hospital for a weak. I went for a walk and when I got back to my room I saw a Chicken Little doll and it looked just like me. There was also a little package with little toys. It had a shot like me he was so cute. Now I will tell you about my rabbits. They were so cute and furry and nice. My rabbits name was Snow and it was black and white my sister’s rabbit is Marshmallow and it was white and brown, black. I loved our rabbits. Now you know three things about me. That love my rabbits and I went to the hospital for a week. I also have a grate grandma that lives in Texas and she has two cats.

There are three things that I think you should know about me.
First I would like you to know that I love being in swim team and earning meatless and ribbons. First you should know that to be in swim team you have to know how to swim, and be able to swim the length of the pool. When you join swim team they will teach you all of the strokes, and all of the different swimming strokes that you can swim. Now that you know what you should know and what you need to do to be in swim team. Now will you please let me tell you what I have won in swim team? I have won 2 trophies’ and a whole lot of ribbons. If you join swim team then you could win trophies and a loat of ribbons.
Second I would like you to know that I love listening to music I also love to copy the songs and sing. When I am sad I love listening to music and after the first 3 words I start singing like crazy. The last thing that you should know is that when I am singing my brother always says that I need to stop singing but I never can because I love singing so much that I could sing for the rest of my life. The last thing that I would like you to know is that when I am board my favorite thing to do is read. My favorite book to read is Little House and the Parry. The reason that it is my favorite book to read is because it lasts me a while. The last reason that I love reading is because when I am mad or frustrated reading always helps calm me down especially Little House and the Parry books. In conclusion you should know that I love reading and swimming in the summer. The last thing that you should know is that my favorite hobby is singing.

There are three things I think you should know about me. First, I love spending time with my family. My family first my family begans with my mom I like to go shopping with her. I like going to beach with her because I get to play in the sand and the water. My mom and I love to go camping because we have a camper and a boat and we like to go on beaches with it we some times we go to Banks Lake witch is also very fun to.
Second I would like you to know I love my animals especially my birds. My favorite animal is my parrots I like to hold them because they are very silky. My birds have very sharp nails my bird’s nails heart when you hold them. I once put them on a toy pirate ship and push them around on the pirate ship. Also they talk alot witch gets very annoying and they copy every thing you say. One of there names are buba and the second ones name is junyar. Buba says where’s Shanda. My mom tells him school and my bird said what’s school and then my mom says it’s a place were you learn and count and then he started counting.
Also I would like you to know I like to ride motorcycles it is very exciting to ride. We ride to lots of rideing spots also there is a lot of fun ponds I like to ride down below are house because there is a big track and if you ride on the other side of the mountain the track is shaped like a like a dimined witch is pretty cool if you ask me. The fun part is I get to ride at Douglas Creek with our motorcycles there’s a lot of mudputels. Now I hope you enjoyed reading three things I think you should of known about me.

There are three things I think you should know about me First I want you to know that I love my family. It all started with my mom and my dad . My dads name is Kevin. My mom is Lesa, I love them both. I have three brothers Brevik, Soren and Trygve. They all are great brothers. Brevik is 12, Soren he is 15 and Trygve is 2 and I have 4 sisters Sauviah is 5 Tayen is 7, Tierney is 14, and Breya is 19.
Next I want to tell you about my family’s collections of big R toys. The Big R toys are fun we have a box filled. A tiny box but it’s a box. We have a lot. If you have a favorite animal I bet there is one. last I want you to know that my family’s rocks are so cool .we have a rock looking like a pizza and one looking like fudge we grab any rock that looks cool. We have a lot of wishing rocks. Some we get on the mountain some we get on the beach. There are three things that you should know about me.

First I collect zatch bell cards.

My family and I had a yard sale and we did not want to sell the zatch bell cards and they were my uncles but he gave them to me.
Zatch bell card is a weird card game.

Also I collect Ben ten action figures.

I only have 4 but I will improve on my collection.
One of my Ben ten action figures is Swamp fire.
My second action figure is crow stone and I hide him in my stash under the bed.
Now my third one is Ben ten he is just a human.
I also collect rocks.

I found the crystals in the dirt by my grandma’s cars.

The crystals were my uncle Jones crystals.
One day my crystals got lost and I was looking all over the house for them.

Now you know that I collect lots of stuff.

There are three things I think you should know about me. First, I like to tell you that I like to play video games. I love to play rock band. There is a drums set microphone and two guitars I play the drums. If you won’t to play against each other you have to play with guitars on multiplayer.
Next, I love to play basketball.
Basketball is my favorite sport. My dad says that my best position is defense. I go outside at 6:00 almost ever morning I think I shoot about 75 shots. My idle Daley Landon he got up at 5:30 ever morning he shoot 600 balls ever day.
Finally, I’m glad to go to Friday harbor last year. When we went to Friday harbor we took a fairy to the island when we got to the island everybody is talking about my dad’s snow cone. We set up the snow cone for the far in Friday harbor. Then we have lots of fun for five days. As you can see I really enjoy three things playing basketball playing video games and going to Friday harbor thanks for lessening to my story.

There are three things that you should know about me. First I like board games like Chinese checkers. Because I beat my sisters all the time. I learned by reading the directions. I got so good I play the pc. That’s means personal computer
Secant I like you to know I have 2 sisters. One lives in Waterville and one lives in Oklahoma the sister in Oklahoma is named willow. I get to go there 2s a year. I enjoy going to Oklahoma its my old town you know. Finely I like ribs. Because you can choose what flavor you want. My favorite flavor is pineapple cocoanut. You can also choose how much meet you want you choose how much you want in a package. Bones in or out or sum in sum out. my dad likes strait bones because they cook better. Now you know about ME!

Expository Writing

There are three things you should know about me. First I’d like you to know I collect rocks. I have a big collection of rocks. They are in a big tin that I have to keep a rubber band around. I have to keep rubber band around the tin because there a lot of rocks. I found some at a lady’s house that we helped her move into. I also get some from my neighbor. I collect some when I go swimming too.
Second I’d like you to know about my family. I have 1 cousin, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 3 aunts, and 3 uncles. 2 of my uncles are very kind but the other 1 is a real pain. He throws stuff at us. One night he licked my pencil when I was doing my homework. My aunts are really kind except one is lazy and makes me do everything. My brother plays his Nintendo DS in bed at night. My brother Mathew is a jerk at times. He pushed me into a fence this morning. My cousin is a funny guy one time he fell a sleep in class. His name is Jordan. One of my sisters is entertaining. The other one is a real jerk. She brags all the time. Her name is Anita I have to play with her all the time even if I don’t want to. Finally I love jumping on my trampoline. My trampoline is big and I can do front flips, somersaults, and I can jump off a RV. I learned how to do somersaults from my cousin. I don’t really know how I learned to do front flips. I started jumping off my aunt’s RV and thought it was fun so I kept crawling back up and jumping back off.
