Singing Carols at the Nursing Homes

The Waterville 3rd and 4th grade classes walked to the Amber Waves and Cornerstone Homes to sing carols for the residents. Mr. Chisolm, our music teacher, and Mr. Grillo, 3rd grade teacher, played their guitars and led the singing. Mrs. Petersen led the parade and got us organized. Mr. Day and our school nurse came along to help. Some of us made Christmas cards that we handed out to the residents.

Exploring Magnetism

What kinds of things will be attracted to a magnet? Can magnetism go through other objects? How much strength does a magnet have? Does the strength of a magnet decrease as the distance from the magnet increases?
These are the questions 4th graders explored during a recent study of magnetism during science.
